Permit Request at your local municipality's office:
As is the case with any kind of major renovation, it is obligatory to receive approval from the municipality before carrying out any kind of work on your residence.
As a standard, in order to analyze your file and issue a permit, the municipality will require two copies of you finished technical drawings and an up-to-date localization certificate. If the footprint of your home is being increased, it should be marked clearly on the localization certificate.
Generally, once all documents have been submitted to the City, it can take up to 20 business days to receive your building permit. For this reason, in certain circumstances when you are looking to begin as soon as possible, it is wise to submit your plans to the City immediately upon receiving them.
